« Getting Started with Salt Dough»

Modeling is of great importance for the education and upbringing of preschool children. It contributes to the development of visual perception, memory, imaginative thinking, instilling manual skills. Modeling, as well as other types of visual activity, forms aesthetic tastes, develops a sense of beauty. A small child has a special acuteness of perception. What is emotionally perceived in childhood is remembered for a lifetime. The perception of beauty forms in children an aesthetic sense, respect and respect for art. Works of art broaden the child's horizons by conveying certain information. They also influence the formation of moral qualities.

The creation of even the simplest sculptures by a child is a creative process. During work with plastic materials, the child experiences aesthetic pleasure from plasticity, volume, from the forms that are obtained in the process of modeling.

At the same time, the child is aware of the various properties of clay and plasticine, gets acquainted with the three-dimensional shape, structure and proportions of objects, he develops the accuracy of hand movements and the eye, forms constructive ability. Modeling often becomes a favorite pastime for children.

You can sculpt from clay and plasticine, but it's interesting to learn something new. Salty dough- this is the most economical and safest way to try your hand at developing fantasy, because you can mold anything from it. Dough - available to everyone, cheap and easy to use material, it can be prepared in advance (for the future). Dough you can paint and sculpt an already colored product, or you can paint the finished work after final drying. Beauty and grace "salty crafts" provide food for creative thinking. Works are lightweight and durable.

Testoplasty is one of the types of folk arts and crafts. Modeling is a useful activity for fingers, since the development of fine motor skills in children is directly related to the development of speech and thinking. Test work is, a kind of exercise that helps in the development of fine differentiated movements, coordination, tactile sensations of children. Our receptors (thin endings of sensory nerves located in the muscles) are small, sensitive explorers, special perceiving devices with which children feel the world around them. At the fingertips there are nerve endings that are connected with the centers of the brain that affect the formation of human speech. A significant part of the cerebral cortex is occupied by representations of our hands. And this naturally, because we receive information about the world through our hands, through our working body with which we explore, create, build. The most important and valuable thing is that modeling from salt dough, along with fine arts (coloring finished products, develops the child aesthetically. Painted products look ceramic. Ecological purity and harmlessness of the material allows it to be widely used in working with children.

Each type of visual activity allows you to develop in children mental activity, creativity, artistic taste and many other qualities, without which it is impossible to form initial foundations of a socially active person.

Modeling develops and improves the natural sense of touch of both hands, the active action of which leads to a more accurate transfer of form. Thanks to this, children quickly learn the ways of depicting and move on to independent activity without showing an adult, which in turn leads to an intensive development of creativity.

Different types of visual activity form the artistic taste of the child, and if the drawing and application affect aesthetic education through the accuracy of lines and the colorfulness of color, then in modeling on first the place is the volumetric form of the object, plasticity and rhythm. All three components really exist in space, which forms in the child the ability to quickly perceive and learn the beauty of the plastic form of objects, the ratio of their parts, develops attentiveness and interest in the surrounding reality.

Sculpting, to a greater extent than drawing and appliqué, leads children to the ability to navigate in space, to the assimilation of a number of mathematical concepts (children directly compare parts with each other and with the whole figure as a whole, determine the dimensions (length, thickness, which in the figure is carried out only visually).

Sculpting is very closely connected with the game. The volume of the completed figurine encourages children to play with it.

Tactile activity is especially clearly manifested by children during modeling and directly affects the formation of fantasy. After all, the development of fantasy in a child is closely related to the development of intelligence.

Conclusion. Mastering the secrets of sculpting from salt dough, the child, more than ever, has the opportunity to discover the magical power of art, to realize his creativity and imagination in his own "creative product". The task of the teacher, in this case, is to offer the most accessible means and materials to achieve a positive result, as well as to give an invisible impetus to the development of creative flight. After all, only being in an atmosphere of mutual understanding between a child and an adult can you look into the child's soul, understand and feel what he wants to achieve.

If we consider modeling from salt dough as a means of developing children's creativity, then we can say that the main point in achieving positive dynamics will be the child's interest in the beginning work. We believe that any expression of the imagined image by a child, where it deviates from any framework, patterns and samples, will be a manifestation of creativity.

modeling one of the most useful activities for a child, one of the means of aesthetic education - it helps to form an artistic taste, teaches you to see and understand the beauty in the life around us and in art. Reproducing this or that object from nature, from memory or from a drawing, children get acquainted with its shape, develop their hands, fingers, which contributes to the development of speech. Preschoolers learn to examine the subject more carefully, which develops observation, children's imagination.

You can sculpt from various plastic, environmentally friendly materials, which acquire the intended shape during the sculpting process and retain it for a long time.

In recent years, salt dough has become a very popular material for modeling, especially among children. This type of creativity came up with a modern name - "Testoplasty". The modeling technique is simple, it is not difficult to master it if you have salt, flour, water at hand. Dough the material is very elastic, easily takes shape and products made from it are quite durable. This is a universal material that makes it possible to embody the most interesting and complex ideas. The technique of modeling from salt dough is available to preschool children in all its richness and variety of ways.

Therefore, we, in our MDOU, have created a circle of testoplasty “Miracles from dough”; developed a project for developing training in testoplasty and “Methodological recommendations for organizing work with salt dough”. Our program does not repeat the structure of the curriculum. It is designed for the practical application of techniques and methods in modeling: in the classroom; in the independent activities of children.

In introducing children to work with salt dough is the creation of a beautiful interior of a kindergarten, a group room, the design of which includes works that the children made with their own hands.

The purpose of our article is to introduce educators, teachers and everyone who likes our idea with practical tips for working with salt dough. The availability of materials and tools, ease of processing allow literally everyone to make artistic products from salt dough. All the works presented by us, we made together with the children. Try it and you, imbued with desire and creative mood, you will certainly succeed. We are sure that once you get down to business, you will get great pleasure.

At the first stage we use modeling of small ornamental details. Despite the fact that these figurines are quite simple to make, they are important components of the composition. These details are so beautiful that they can be decorations in themselves: these are flowers, leaves, berries, fruits, vegetables, etc. The manufacture of small elements is an important stage of work before moving on to complex compositions. He teaches children to be meticulous in their work.

At the second stage we make simple crafts that have many options for execution. They look very effective and even without coloring. Rings, braids, medallions are common decorations. We decorate them with small ornamental details.

At the third stage we are moving on to making more complex compositions: plots from r.n. fairy tales, wall panels, flat decorations that we make using templates.

You can also make a lot of board games and puzzles from the dough. Handmade games are the most favorite among children.

At all these stages, we use the same dough recipe: 4 cups of salt, 2 cups of flour (wheat), 3/4 cups of water, 1 tbsp. a spoonful of wallpaper paste (consistency of thick sour cream). This is the basis, the number of ingredients is up to you.

The dough should be well kneaded so that it becomes soft, uniform and elastic.

We make products on small pieces of thick paper. This allows you to shift the product from place to place without disturbing the product.

Do not leave the dough for the next time, use it all, the stale dough will tear and products from it will have an unsightly appearance.

We dry the dough product in the air or in the oven at a temperature not exceeding 200 degrees.

After the product has dried, the children and I paint it with gouache or glaze it. Also, the dough can be colored with food coloring, they can be added both to flour and to the finished dough.

When the product is completely finished, it is varnished (do this without the presence of children). We use a liquid colorless varnish for wooden products. Works covered with such varnish look more attractive.

In order to strengthen the finished products on the base, we use a strong adhesive.

Testoplasty is a fairly new type of applied art. Your imagination will know no bounds here. Come up with your own paintings, panels, sculpt stories from fairy tales with children, the appearance of a new one always supports children's interest. Dare! Create!

Testoplasty or modeling from salt dough is a very entertaining activity. Not only children, but also adults can get carried away with them. Sculpting is one of the favorite activities of children. In addition to the obvious creative self-expression, the baby also develops the flexibility and mobility of the fingers, accuracy and coordination of movements, which improves speech, develops fine motor skills of the hands, imagination, and manual skills are formed and developed. The child acquires a new sensory experience - a sense of plasticity, form.

Crafts from the test will be an original gift to family and friends.

Remember that art starts small!

Today, testoplasty has become a very popular activity. They sculpt everywhere and everything, and this is not surprising, because sculpting is a great pleasure and joy.

The influence of decorative modeling (testoplasty) on the development of the child is wide. It is reflected in the features of the development of the child's personality, his cognitive sphere and activity. Here are just a few of these influences:

Expanding horizons;

Development of fine motor skills;

Creation of a holistic image;

Development of a value attitude towards a person, his culture, work;

Game development with rules;

Vocabulary expansion;

Development of the ability to interact, business and personal communication;

Development of cognitive processes;

Positive impact on mental and physical health.

Thus, modeling for children of senior preschool and primary school age contributes to the comprehensive development of the individual.

Moreover, in the manufacture of works, scarce materials will not be required, everything you need can be found at home in the kitchen. There are many recipes for salt dough. I will share with you the one that I use myself

So, for work we will need:

2 cups salt

2 cups of flour

2 tablespoons starch

2 tablespoons wallpaper glue "Moment"

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 glass of cold water

First you need to grind salt on a coffee grinder, if you have a large one. It is better to immediately buy salt of the Extra brand, just do not use iodized salt.

Mix flour, salt, starch, glue. Add water and knead a stiff dough. There is not much water, so you have to work hard with your hands. While kneading, gradually add vegetable oil.

Put the resulting salty dough in a plastic bag and put it in the refrigerator for several hours.

Now we need to prepare the tools.

First, it's a sculpting board and stacks. Sold in stationery and art stores. Gouache, colorless varnish, rolling pin, sharp knife, brushes. In addition, cookie cutters are useful, with which you can cut out figures, toothpicks, embossed buttons, a wheel for patterns, etc.

Getting Started

We take out the salty dough from the refrigerator, but not all. Only a piece. We cut off another piece from it, with which we will work, and the rest - in another bag, so that it does not dry out from above.

Now use a rolling pin to roll out the dough. Exactly exactly. And get to work. Or cut out some figures with a mold, or divide the figure into parts and sculpt from them what you like. It all depends on your imagination. There are a lot of books and photographs of products for example on the net, I will not repeat myself.

The parts of the product are connected with a toothpick or wire, and small pieces are glued, after wetting the junction with water.

And now your product is ready. Lay it on a flat surface and leave it to dry completely.

You can speed up this process by placing a tray of products on a warm radiator or a sunny window.

When the products are completely dry, paint them with gouache. You can use other paints, but experience has proven that gouache fits best on dough products. We wait until the gouache dries, and varnish it on top.

That, in fact, is all. Now, if you will make panels with these crafts, prepare a frame and Moment glue and stick it on it.

So, let's begin.

salt dough recipeFirst of all, the flour should be the most ordinary. No baking powder, dyes and other flavorings! Usually the cheapest wheat flour is used. In contrast, rye has more gluten. Crafts made from such flour are coarser, but when dried, they deform and crack less. If small and refined details are not planned in the process of making a future craft, as a rule, wheat and rye flour are mixed in equal proportions.

Salt - Extra. I read in one book that you can take rock salt and grind it in a coffee grinder. Well, let's try the sea or, for example, bath salt. I repeat once again - do not be wiser! We are not talking about rare earth metals now. Salt "Extra" is more than available, sold in any village grocery store. It is quite small and dissolves well.

Water - ordinary cold water.

Let's move on to cooking and all kinds of additives.

Mix salt and flour. Some "specialists" recommend dissolving salt in water in advance. Like, in this way, the salt will dissolve completely and there will be no crystalline inclusions in the dough. In fact, we get a saturated solution with an incomprehensible precipitate. In addition, the exact amount of water that we may need, we can not always guess. And in the manufacture of decorative tiles and tiles, the amount of salt is increased, almost twice! So much salt water will not take unambiguously. Therefore, we will not reinvent the wheel and continue.

Adding extra ingredients. In order for our crafts to be more durable after drying and finishing, add one or two tablespoons of wallpaper paste. If you add potato starch, the dough will become very tender and plastic. It is good to create thin, refined works with many small details from such a dough. Although, if you want to add starch, it would be more correct to cook a paste and use it instead of water. It should also be remembered that starch makes the craft more fragile. Therefore, it is important not to overdo it here. For the amount of flour given in our recipe, a heaping tablespoon will suffice. By the way, in the process of writing this article, I had an idea about using cornmeal. After all, it contains a very large amount of starch. I will definitely try it and in the future I will definitely unsubscribe on this topic.

We knead the dough.Mixing thoroughly, add cold water. You can use all kinds of mixers and food processors, but only at the initial stage. Although, in my humble opinion, it's overkill. The degree of readiness of salt dough can only be determined by hand. If the dough crumbles, add water. If, on the contrary, it stretches too well and sticks to your hands, then there is a lot of water, and you need to add a little flour. Roll up the ball, make a few indentations in it with your finger. If the dough does not spread and holds its shape, then it is ready. In the process of kneading, I recommend adding vegetable oil. Now the dough will not stick to your hands, dry out quickly and become covered with a crust during work. However, it should be remembered that the best is the enemy of the good! If there is a lot of oil, the dough will get dirty, and the final drying may take a very long time. For our recipe, a couple of tablespoons is enough. For the same purpose, some use glycerin and even baby cream. I can't say enough about the cream. But if you plan to work with a child, you can add some pleasant fragrance. For example - a few crystals of vanillin. If you add dyes, then more information can be found in the article "colored dough ».

We wrap the finished dough in a bag and put it in the refrigerator. In this form, it can be stored for a long time. By the way, after a few hours of such storage, the salt residues will completely dissolve. And the rest of the components will enter into a final reaction with each other. The main thing is not to forget to knead the dough again before work. As a rule, I cook it in the evening, and I do the modeling the next day.

So,

there are no exact, ideal and uniquely correct recipes! The hardness of the water, the quality of the flour and salt, even the temperature can affect the final result. So, if you are just starting to get interested in testoplasty, use the recommendations above. Do not be afraid to experiment, and, quite possibly, over time, you will develop your own, exclusive recipe for making salt dough!

When did people start making figurines out of dough? Yes, probably from those ancient times when they learned how to extract flour for this dough! In the history of every ancient civilization, there are references to testoplasty as an important part of religious rites, folk art, and even sacrifices. After all, flour and water, like the bread that is made from them, are an integral part of human culture.

Since the purpose of this introductory article is not historical research, we will omit an impressive list of countries in whose history there is evidence of the use of salt dough. Let's just say that this tradition is really very ancient, and it is common on all continents. Well, except that the penguins in Antarctica have not yet mastered this wonderful craft.

Let's go back to today. For many centuries of existence, the technique of working with salt dough has not changed much. All the same flour and water. In order to protect the craft from all kinds of pests, add salt. Here, in fact, is all that is needed! Oh yes! We forgot to mention the great desire to make a beautiful thing with our own hands!

In the modern world, handmade products are highly valued. Products of folk craftsmen are unique works of art that adorn our lives. Folk art expresses a person's primordial craving for beauty, the desire to reveal their creative abilities. Music, artistic word, visual arts are the sources of special children's joy in preschool childhood. The child discovers the magical power of art and strives to express them in his own "creative product" through drawing, modeling, playing music. At the same time, he reveals himself, comprehends his own capabilities.

Each type of visual activity makes it possible to develop in children mental activity, creativity, artistic taste and many other qualities, without which it is impossible to form the initial foundations of a socially active personality. In modeling classes, the above qualities develop especially. Since any object has volume, it is perceived by the child from all sides. Based on this perception of the object, an image is formed in the mind of a preschooler. Sculpting, as an activity to a greater extent than drawing or appliqué, leads children to the ability to navigate in space, mastering a number of mathematical concepts. Children directly compare parts of objects with each other, determine their dimensions (length, thickness), which in the drawing is carried out only visually. Modeling contributes to the development of a sense of touch in both hands. Trying to convey the form as accurately as possible, the child actively works with his fingers, and most often only ten, and this, as you know, contributes to the development of speech. Another specific feature of modeling is its close connection with the game. The volume of the completed figurine encourages children to play with it. In kindergarten, clay or plasticine is most often used for modeling, but recently another very popular material has appeared - dough.

Man has long learned to cook from flour and water - to mold cakes. Now we habitually buy bread in the store. And for the holidays we bake pies ourselves, with our own hands we sculpt and bake cockerels, pigeons, fish and decorate them with unthinkable curls. And works of applied art from this material are a completely different matter. More upscale. Salt dough is a wonderful material to work with. Plastic, soft, interesting. And it is very well suited for modeling, both at home and in a modern kindergarten.

Modeling is one of the types of fine arts, in which three-dimensional figures and whole compositions are created from plastic materials.

To create and create are magnificent moments of our life, it is joy and light in the soul. Sculpting from dough is an affordable activity for both adults and children. This hobby brings in addition to pleasure and invaluable benefits for the health of the body and soul. The work of the fingers, the brain is activated and there is a complete relaxation of the body and soul. A person is filled with joy, worries, stress go away, and if he works with love and desire, he can rest and recuperate. This is a special state, a gift from God that needs to be protected and multiplied.

Work on testoplasty has a complex effect on the development of the child, in addition to the generally accepted opinion about the development of fine motor skills, we can say that modeling from salt dough contributes to the development of creativity in preschoolers.

1. Increases sensory sensitivity, that is, it contributes to a subtle perception of shape, texture, color, weight, plasticity;

2. Develops imagination, spatial thinking, general manual skill, fine motor skills;

3. Synchronizes the work of both hands;

4. Forms the ability to plan work on the implementation of the plan, to foresee the result and achieve it, if necessary, to make adjustments to the original plan;

5. Develops the child's creativity.

SHAPING FROM SALT DOUGH

Don't know what is so interesting to do with a child? Then modeling from salt dough is perfect for you, as it develops the fine motor skills of the baby's hands, creativity and attentiveness.

Dough crafts are good because they will serve you much more than from the same plasticine. What can we say about clay, it is unlikely that the baby’s tender hands should be dirty in it, because the child will immediately taste it. Salt dough is absolutely safe for the child's body. Also, it does not contain artificial materials and paints. And the presence of a large amount of salt makes it taste unpleasant, so even after tasting a piece, the child will spit it out here and will no longer pull it into his mouth.

By making the dough at home, you will involve your child in this process, not to mention the modeling itself. How to prepare such an interesting material?

Drying dough

There are several ways to dry the resulting figures. The easiest and most inexpensive is to dry everything on the balcony or on any surface that is blown. If you want to get the maximum result, then it is better to dry the salt dough in the oven at a temperature of 100-150’C. As soon as the craft has become solid, the drying process is over. Small products under such conditions dry up in a maximum of an hour, large ones - 2-3 hours. Be sure to make sure that your creativity does not burn out in the oven. If you want to get a golden copy - add up to 200'C and do not leave for a minute.

Product processing

1. Glazing with saline. We prepare it like this: the ratio of salt and water is 1: 2). We take a brush and process it with a solution. Put in the oven at 100'C. We repeat everything again and get a beautiful craft.

2. Applying the yolk with water. We mix these ingredients, coat the product and put in the oven at 100'C.

3. You can also cover the craft with beetroot syrup, and then it will turn brown. Lubricate half an hour before turning off the oven (drying).

Salt dough modeling will be good fun for your child. It is better to start modeling at 3-4 years old, when he is already quite ready to help you and shows interest in creativity.

How to teach a child to sculpt? Where to begin?

Modeling opens up great opportunities, both for the development of fine motor skills, and for the development of the child in general. At first, the child works with the whole hand, since the movements of the fingers are not sufficiently developed and poorly coordinated. For a child, the most significant are the physical properties of the material: viscosity, plasticity, mass, etc. The child gets acquainted with the properties of clay, salt dough, plasticine and performs play actions with them. This period is also called as in drawing "pre-pictorial", but it usually passes faster, since actions with easily influenced material lead to a result. initiallythe child tears off large and small lumps from the common clod, then heaps them one on top of the other, rolls them out on a plank, flattens his hand on the board (that is, he acts without setting himself the goal of depicting anything). Under the guidance of an adult, the child modifies shapeless lumps, rolls them out with longitudinal and rotational movements of the palms, first just on the table, and then between the palms. In the future, the child will learn to sculpt sticks, columns, rings, koloboks, pyramids, mushrooms.
Interest in plastic properties should be directed to the image of specific objects, otherwise the child will scatter and smear the material on the board. As a result of mastering elementary actions with clay, dough, the child learns to sculpt objects of the simplest form: columns, pencils, sticks. The next stage is an image of a spherical shape (kolobok, ball, ball). Ball-forming motions are more complex than cylinder-forming motions, as they require more visual control and coordination of both hands.
Based on the acquired skills in sculpting a cylinder and a ball, we move on to the image of certain objects, for example: from a bent column - kalach, from several rings - a turret, and a lollipop (rattle) - from a column and a ball.
Classes should be repeated, but the topics should be different. For example, fixing the modeling of cylindrical objects, the topics can be as follows: pencils, fence posts, sticks, firewood, straws for treating dolls, etc.
The first classes are held for 5-8 minutes. At this stage, the information-receptive method is used. Of great importance in training is not only a demonstration, but also an explanation of each action. It is possible that classes are conducted using the "hand in hand" technique, in which case pronunciation of actions is mandatory. "We put the lump in the palm of our hand, cover it with the other palm, and roll it back and forth, back and forth, we get a column. Each action should be accompanied by similar explanations so that the child more actively perceives the sequence in the image. The duration of classes gradually increases to 10-12 minutes.
The child's work should be kept for some time. This should be done for two reasons: firstly, the attention of relatives, close people, other children should be drawn to the work of the child, saying what a wonderful job, praising the child; secondly, the works must be saved in order to be able to return to their analysis, compare with subsequent works, and track the dynamics.

GOOD LUCK TO YOU AND CREATIVE SUCCESS!
