Minced Greek people are prepared from any type of meat in combination with boiled buckwheat and served with a sauce, usually tomato or mushroom. Today we will cook Greek people with minced chicken, stewed in tomato sauce.

Ingredients: (for 10 Greek people)

  • 500 g chicken fillet
  • 150 g raw buckwheat
  • 1 large egg or 2 small
  • 1 onion (approximately 100 g)
  • 1/4 tsp curry
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • salt, pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp. l. flour for breading
  • vegetable oil

for the sauce:

  • 300-350 ml pureed tomatoes
  • 1 onion (100 g)
  • 20-25 g butter
  • 1-2 cloves of garlic
  • salt, pepper, any seasonings to taste
  • 100 ml hot water

Preparation:

First, let's put the buckwheat to cook. Pour 1.5 cups (375 ml) water into a small saucepan and bring to a boil. We sort out buckwheat and, if necessary, rinse. Add 0.5 tsp to boiling water. salt and lower the cereal.

Cook over high heat without a lid until the water level equals the surface of the cereal. Remove the foam during the boil.

Now we close the pan with a lid, remove the heat to a minimum and bring the porridge to readiness, it will take 12-15 minutes. Set aside the finished buckwheat porridge to cool.

Let's prepare the minced meat. Scroll the chicken fillet in a meat grinder, in the last turn we scroll one onion, cut into 4 parts.

Add one large beaten egg, curry, nutmeg, salt, pepper, cooled buckwheat porridge. We knead well. If it seems to you that the minced meat for the Greek people turned out to be thick, add a little mayonnaise or sour cream.

Let's make tomato sauce. Cut the second onion into small cubes and fry in butter until slightly golden brown.

Add mashed tomatoes, any dry seasonings, garlic passed through a press, salt and pepper to taste. Stir and keep on low heat for five minutes. The tomato sauce is ready.

You can take any tomatoes for the sauce. I use ready-made mashed tomatoes, now it's not a problem to buy them in the store. You can use fresh tomatoes by peeling them and grating them on a coarse grater. You can use canned tomatoes in your own juice or just homemade tomato sauce.

Form small cutlets from the prepared minced meat and bread them in flour. I got 10 small Greek people.

Fry the buckwheat on both sides in vegetable oil until golden brown.

We put them close to each other in a large frying pan.
