Jimmy Lee is a new authentic Chinese restaurant on Prospekt Mira.

A new Chinese restaurant has opened in Moscow on Prospekt Mira. The owner and chef is 35-year-old Shanghai Jimmy Lee. Does the owner himself cook for the guests in the restaurant? Exactly! Agree, still a rare occurrence for Moscow.

Jimmy grew up in Shanghai. There he learned to be a cook and worked until, at the invitation of a Chinese friend, the chef of the Dynasty restaurant, he came to Moscow for the first time. So, in 2007, his acquaintance with the Russian capital began. Visiting our city on business, Jimmy had long wanted to open his own restaurant. And I looked for a suitable room for a long time. For a long time - because the main requirement for the premises was the availability of gas, and there are practically no such places in Moscow, especially in the center. It is an open fire that makes it possible to cook the most authentic Chinese dishes, and this is exactly the place Jimmy was looking for and found it at the end of last year.

The interior of the Jimmy Lee combines the charm and spirit of 1930s Shanghai with a modern Asian loft that certainly includes both pop art and 70s style furniture, as well as unobtrusive interspersed with traditional Chinese decor items. The architect of the project, Maxim Shtode, managed to subtly and harmoniously convey both Western energy and the Asian charm of Shanghai due to the use of old bricks on the walls discovered during the renovation, the use of turquoise and malachite shades traditional for Shanghai in a variety of interior details and visual accents in the technique of Asian painting, which for the restaurant was created by the artist Yulia Borovaya. So, carps and cranes are depicted on the walls of the main hall, symbolizing strength, prosperity and good luck, and at the entrance to the restaurant there is a painting in the ChinoiserieChic style. Designer Ludmila Makarova helped Jimmy pick up contemporary art pieces and decorate separate areas of the restaurant.

The Jimmy Lee menu is very long and varied. Here guests will be introduced to Shanghai, Sichuan, Guangdong and Beijing cuisine. Jimmy offers to try both world hits of Chinese cuisine - pork in sweet and sour sauce, shark fin soup or Peking duck, as well as practical dishes unfamiliar to Europeans that will appeal to many. Look out for fish-flavored roast pork, Chinese black bean lettuce with dried dace, Shanghai baozi, Xinjiang-style cumin lamb or crispy xiang-su duck, and Yangzhou-style pumpkin donuts for desserts. The main menu includes more than twenty types of appetizers, seafood and various fish, including yellow croker, rare in Moscow, dishes from all major types of meat and poultry. A tribute to dofu is expressed in a special section of the menu "Dofu and vegetables", which features several dishes with this very popular product in China. Special thanks to Chinese cuisine for dim sums: at Jimmy you can try Guangdong dumplings with crab, peanuts and cilantro, Hong Kong ones with shrimp and pork, classic shao mei, Shanghai xiao long bao, as well as fried Guangdong dumplings with tiger prawns, pork and jusai and Beijing dumplings. gothi with pork.

The wine list for the restaurant was created by the ideologist of biodynamics in Russia, Vladimir Basov. And this is no coincidence either! Since Shanghai is one of the most advanced cities in China, Jimmy decided that the wine list of his restaurant should also be in line with modern trends.

Responsible for the bar are Andrey Ref (Mondriaanbar) and Alexey Kiselyov (ex-chef bartender of FF restaurant&bar and Simachevbar) – the bar list includes 8 cocktails specially designed for the restaurant, a large selection of hard alcohol from small producers. It should be noted that Jimmy Lee has a separate bar area with high bar tables and a contact bar.

brickwork and fragile butterflies, Chinese mysterious smile girls, spots of light and shadow. Europe and Asia suddenly met in Shanghai 30s.

The owner and chef of the restaurant on Prospekt Mira is really from China, from that same Shanghai. And the restaurant is named after him - Jimmy Lee.

The menu contains traditions of Shanghai, Sichuan, Guangdong and Beijing cuisines; there are a number of dishes that are not presented anywhere else in Moscow.

But what about Europe? In addition to the general flair of a mixture of cultures that came from the past and finds in the interior, the restaurant has a strong wine list.

Let's take a look at the menu :)

In appetizers, of course, there will be obligatory pig ears, black duck eggs. But if you want more originality, try a salad of three types of mushrooms and asparagus with a light ginger dressing or a spicy salad of crab and ripe mango.

One of the best options would be Shanghai-style duck liver. Yes, yes, foie gras in a very unusual and delicate reading.
Spring rolls (offered in two versions: with shrimp, pork and vegetables / with mushrooms and vegetables) are also perfectly executed.

Seemingly simple, but interesting and bright finds await among Dofu and Vegetables. Actually, dofu (tofu) itself, colored with sauces, seasonings, meat juices.

Or here is Chinese lettuce stewed in black bean sauce with dried dace. Here is pak choi in oyster sauce, and it is also in transparent Shanghai with xianggu mushrooms.

Order rice for a side dish, Jimmy Lee cooks it in some completely magical way; I don't remember where was the last time I ate better :)
The section with dim sums and dumplings is very good: there are seafood and meat in a thin dough.

You can try fried Beijing gothi with pork or Guangdong dumplings with shrimp, pork and jusai.

If a bird, then there is where to turn around!
Red chickens, Peking ducks; ducks fried in Sichuan style with cao gou fruits.. Or here: chicken in a soft lemon xi nin sauce.
A little more, and the sauce would be too caramel, too sweet, but... everything here is absolutely perfect.
Noodles? But how! Here, for example, udon with duck, black beans, celery and chili peppers.

And finally, desserts. From the obligatory fried milk and green tea paired with cream (in ice cream and panna cotta) to sweet and fluffy Yangzhou-style pumpkin donuts.

From luscious orange autumn to white winter: to snowy rice balls stuffed with sweet black sesame.
