It is easy, especially if you know how to make oriental toast from pita bread, because you can add cheese, crab sticks, and herbs to them! The taste will be slightly different each time, and our task is only to select the ingredients so that they match our preferences.

It will not be difficult to make fried lavash croutons if you know in what sequence the preparation should go, and our detailed recipe with a photo will help you not to get confused.

Let's prepare them for a start according to the classic version.

Ingredients

  • Thin Armenian lavash- 1 PC. + -
  • Soft melted cheese- 150 g + -
  • Crab sticks- 100 g + -
  • - 1 bundle + -
  • - 2 cloves + -

  • - 1-2 tsp + -

Preparation

  1. We wash the greens, let them drain and chop. We also finely chop the crab sticks.
  2. We spread a sheet of pita bread and divide it into four equal parts. Lubricate the first with a thin layer of melted cheese, squeeze out a third of the garlic from the press and distribute it over the surface, as in the photo.
  3. Sprinkle with 1/3 of the greens and add a third of the chopped crab sticks. Cover everything with a sheet of pita bread.
  4. We repeat the whole procedure two more times - cheese, garlic, herbs, crab, lavash.
  5. When we put the last layer of pita bread, lightly press it with our hands and use a sharp knife to divide the resulting layer cake into identical rectangles. This must be done very carefully so that the filling is not squeezed out.
  6. We leave the future croutons on the table for now, and we ourselves begin to prepare the batter. Beat the egg, milk, add some salt and pepper. Slowly add flour to thicken and stir so that there are no lumps left.
  7. Pour oil into the pan and heat it up properly. Dip the crouton into the batter on both sides so that it is well saturated and spread out to fry.
  8. We hold on each side for 2 minutes, until it is browned, then we transfer it to a napkin or paper towel - let the excess fat be absorbed.

Ready-made oriental lavash croutons are best served hot, so that the crust crunches and a wonderful aroma soars!

How to replace processed cheese

If you don't have processed cheese at hand or don't like it very much, we recommend using hard cheese. For this amount of products in the recipe, we need 90-100 g. Three of it on a coarse grater and grease the pita bread with mayonnaise and sprinkle on top.

Let's start with the filling

  • Three on a grater 100 g of hard cheese.
  • We wash 3 tomatoes.
  • We shred it into circles with a thickness of 2-3 mm.

How to cook oriental croutons

  1. Cut a small onion into very thin half rings and fill it with a bitter solution of 6% vinegar for 5-6 minutes. Then we filter and leave to drain.
  2. We unfold the lavash sheet and divide it into 4 parts.
  3. Grease the first part with yolk, salt, pepper, spread a third of the tomatoes, onion half rings and sprinkle everything with a piece of cheese.
  4. We put pita bread on top, repeat the whole procedure until a layer of dough remains on top.

Egg batter

We cook batter only from eggs - we need 2 pieces. In them, you can add the protein left over from the egg, with which we smeared the layers of pita bread.

  • Beat the eggs well with a fork, add salt, pepper and spices - dried basil, garlic and parsley are perfect.

How to fry pita bread croutons

Pour bread crumbs into a separate plate and put a frying pan with vegetable oil on the fire to warm up.

Dip each crouton, first in eggs, and then in breadcrumbs and spread to fry over low heat. On high, the breading may start to burn before the cheese is completely melted.

In this recipe for oriental lavash croutons, hard cheese can be safely replaced with processed or sausage cheese. In the latter case, it is better to rub it on a fine grater - we take as much sausage cheese as usual - this amount of products will require about 100 g.

The batter can be prepared with the addition of flour, milk or kefir, and it is good to roll the croutons in both breadcrumbs and semolina - in any case, the oriental dish will turn out to be crispy and appetizing!

  1. Immediately boil 4 hard-boiled eggs, cool them, clean and chop with a fork. There should be some pieces of protein, but very small.
  2. Rinse with 100 g of green onions and let them drain, then remove excess moisture with napkins or paper towels. Chop finely with a knife or cut with kitchen scissors.
  3. Three 70 g of hard cheese on a fine grater and spread the pita bread. We cut a standard sheet into 4 parts.
  4. Grease the first with a thin layer of sour cream and sprinkle with cheese, spread part of the onion, then chopped eggs. We alternate this way, not forgetting to coat the dough, until the last layer of pita bread lies on top.
  5. Cut into portions and heat the oil in a frying pan.
  6. For batter, mix 1 egg with 1 tbsp with a fork. kefir and 1 tbsp. grated cheese. Add it and pepper it well.
  7. Dip one crouton at a time and send it to a hot pan.

Fry everything on both sides in this way and put it on a napkin so that the excess fat is absorbed.

Ready-made serve laid out on a plate and garnished with slices of vegetables, as in the photo.

The same should be done with the third layer. The final is the fourth. After laying it, press the entire structure well. Cut the resulting briquette into several pieces. You need a sharp knife so that nothing falls apart. Now break two eggs and add flour to them. Add the resulting pieces to this mass and send the frying from both sides.   10. We cover the entire structure with a fourth sheet, press down a little with our hands.
  11. With a sharp knife, cut the layers of lavash into small squares (I got 8 pieces).
  12. Heat refined sunflower oil in a frying pan, dip the squares in batter, put them in a frying pan and fry on both sides until golden brown.
  13. Serve, garnished with parsley sprigs.
